2013                    Watershed Bench, Heritage Elementary School, Lodi, California

                             After students went on a field trip to learn about the watershed in the San Francisco Bay Area, they made handmade tiles that reminded them of what they had learned. The tiles became part of a bench that is installed on school grounds.

2013                     Communicare Health Clinic Sculpture, Woodland, California

                             Large-scale public art, community build project, installed outside the Woodland Communicare Health Clinic. Community members constructed handmade clay tile pieces of their houses located in Woodland, CA. The house tiles were weaved into mosaic murals that form the base of the sculpture, on which three large ferrous cement/mosaic figures stand.

'13-'15                 Koramatsu Elementary Legacy Mosaic Mural, 1st, 2nd and 3rd year, Davis, CA

                            1st year: Students from 5th and 6th grade helped in the construction of a mosaic mural of an oak tree. This community build project will be added to each consecutive school year. 2nd year: Students in the 1st and 2nd grade made clay tiles of caterpillars to add the pervious years mosaic mural of an oak tree. The tiles were installed on the walls of the classrooms and surrounding the mosaic mural oak tree. 3rd year:  Student in the 5th grade took a tour of the UC Davis Oak Discovery Trail in the UC Davis Arboretum to observe the wildlife associated with the oak trees. They later made clay tiles of the wildlife they observed to add the pervious years mosaic mural of an oak tree. The tiles were installed on the walls of the classrooms and surrounding the mosaic mural oak tree.

2013                    Honey Bee Haven Project, University of California, Davis

                            Art-Science Fusion Program/Billick Rock Art

                            University students constructed handmade tiles of the cycle of the honeybees. These tiles were placed in a mosaic mural that surrounds planters in the honeybee haven garden on campus. The purpose of this project is to bring awareness of the colony collapses occurring worldwide.

 

2013                   “Half the Sky” Project, University of California, Davis

                              Art-Science Fusion Program/Billick Rock Art, 

                             University students created clay sculpted books to bring awareness to the issues discussed in the campus book of the year, “Half the Sky” by Nicholas D. Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn. The books were hung in the Robert & Margrit Mondavi Center of the Performing Arts at UC Davis.

 

2013                    Private Commission Mosaic Mural, Davis, California

                            A commission community build project where a group of friends created a panel mural for a wedding gift. Each person made an image out of mosaics to incorporate in a collective mural of a tree.

2013-2014           Miranda Memorial Bench, Heritage Elementary School, Lodi, California

                             A community build project with students and members of the community to make clay tile pieces in memory of the members of the Miranda family that passed away in a tragic car accident. The tiles became part of a mosaic bench that will be installed outside the school.

2014                    Cottonwood Leaf Bench, CBA Conference and Bootcamp, Davis,California

                            As part of the Community Built Association Conference and Bootcamp, members participated in the construction of a ferrous cement bench that is in the shape of a cottonwood leaf. Members also made handmade tiles of the animals that live in or near cottonwood trees. The bench is installed in the UC Davis Arboretum.

2014                     Magic Carpet Bench, Davis, CA

                             A mosaic bench in the shape of a magic carpet install in front of Regal Cinemas. Community members constructed strips of mosaic and hand made tiles to form the weaving blocks seen in carpets. Community members also assisted in the installation of the bench, by installing mosaics existing concrete block frames with blue tiles to represent the sky.

 

2014-2015           Community Build/Artist Workshop, Billick Rock Art/Todos Artes, Todos Santos, Mexico

                             Assisted in the operation and teachings at artist workshop called Heaven on Earth, hosted by Donna Billick/Todos Artes. Artists Pam Stelf, Jos Sances and Donna Billick taught methods of mono printing, screen-printing, tile and mold making to a class of 15 students. At the end of the five-day workshop, the students and artists installed a mural made of tiles by the students and artists.
